Pastor Yoakum was born and raised in Liberty, Missouri. The youngest of three boys, he attended Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman University) in Kirksville, MO. He graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders.  He attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. During his vicarage year (internship), he served at our Savior, Lutheran Church in Fishkill, NY. He graduated from the seminary in 1998.

Pastor’s first call to a parish was to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Midwest City, Oklahoma, where he served from 1998 until 2003. In 2003, he received the call to serve here at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Riverview. He joyfully accepted this call and has been serving the church and this community since then. 

Pastor Yoakum is married to Kathy and they have one daughter, Kara. When he is not serving the church, he enjoys spending time with his family, and movies, books, and audiobooks. One day he hopes to learn a musical instrument and some woodworking to fill all of that extra time that he hopes to find.
